The Pro - Level 3

Course Duration: 16 weeks, 3 days a week, 2½ hours a day.

Timings: Early morning 6:00 AM - 8:30 AM

Shoots: Films are shot on weekends. Attending shoots of all films is mandatory.

Equipment/format used: Panasonic AG-HVX200, Sennheiser Microphone ME66/K6, Manfrotto tripod & fluid head, Lowel Lighting Kit, Varizoom Camera Controller, Steadicam Merilin.

Editing: On a Mac computer running Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack Pro, Motion & LiveType.

Course Fee: Rs. 90,000/- (includes charges for instruction and use of all equipment. No additional charges)

Writing - Intended to groom the ultimate filmmaker, each student at this level makes a 6 minute film based on a script they write. Scripts are fast-paced, character driven and scoped to be extended into longer films.

Camera - Films are shot in High Definition (HD) using the Panasonic AG-HVX200 camera and its P2 Card workflow. This level is characterized by the moving camera to compliment fast-paced scripts. Students will be taught to use the Steadicam Merlin and the Varizoom Camera Controller. They will do exercises in lighting using a Lowel Lighting Kit and apply practical methods to their films.

Shooting - Each film will be shot over 2 days and nights. Shoots are timed. The director of each film will also be its cinematographer. A production plan will assign crew roles to each student for each film. Crew roles are rotated through the class. No student performs the same role twice. The instructor will be present during the shoot.

Editing - Advanced topics in sound mixing and effects using Soundtrack Pro will be covered in this level. Students will be taught to create visual effects (as called by the script) using Motion.

On Graduation: Each student will receive a DVD copy of all films made during the course. They will be credited appropriately in all crew roles they served in each film. This DVD will serve as a demo reel reflecting their filmmaking abilities They will also receive an individualized Level 3 certificate that outlines their individual strengths and areas of potential growth in filmmaking.

Further Prospects: Students are eligible to apply for The Jim Taylor Grant in filmmaking. Depending on the students abilities, attitude to furthering their craft and dedication to filmmaking, they will be offered internships to work on FilmCamp.TV productions.
